Biqi Waxberry Tree (Myrica Rubra), a renowned Chinese variety from Yuyao and Cixi, Zhejiang, boasts over 2,000 years of cultivation history. This compact evergreen has a neat rounded canopy, making it easy to manage. Its deep purple-black fruits, named for their water chestnut-like shape, offer 93.5%-96% edible flesh with tiny seeds (only 5% of fruit weight). Juicy, sweet-tart, and nutrient-rich (high in antioxidants and vitamin C), they excel fresh or for canning. Hardy and adaptable (USDA zones 8-10), it resists wind, diseases, and holds fruit well post-ripening. Bearing starts in 3-4 years, peaks in 8-10 years (up to 900kg/plant), with a 50-70 year lifespan. Ships as 4-year-old, 60-80cm plants—awarded the International Golden Prize for its exceptional quality.
